Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme
Name: Lynette “Squeaky” Fromme
Played by: Sue Ann Shelton Born: October 22, 1948 Known for: Attempted assassination of President Gerald Ford on September 5, 1975 What Happened: Lynette Fromme reportedly traveled to Sacramento to plead with President Ford about the plight of the California redwoods. Though, her allegiance and prior relationship with Charles Manson would have lead people to believe otherwise. Either way, on September 5, 1975, Fromme dressed in a red robe and aimed a Colt semi-automatic pistol at Ford. She never got off a shot, however, as she was immediately restrained by the Secret Service. Fromme also stated that she never intended to shoot the President, as she had deliberately ejected the cartridge in her gun's chamber that morning. From received life in prison for the attempt, though she was released on parole on August 14, 2009. Also: Fromme met Charles Manson in 1967 in Venice Beach. Fromme was immediately drawn to Manson and his philosophies. Joining his camp, Fromme traveled with Manson until his arrest in 1969, when she (along with the rest of the Manson family) camped outside the trial. Fromme was so passionate about Manson and his beliefs that when he carved an X into his forhead, so did she. Today, Fromme reportedly lives in New York. |
